Lockscreen Widgets

A (very) long time ago, Android introduced a feature to allow you to show certain widgets on the lock screen. For some reason, this useful feature was removed with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, confining widgets to the home screen only.

While some manufacturers, such as Samsung, have brought back limited versions of lock screen widgets, you’re usually limited to the widgets the manufacturer has already created for you.

Well, no more! Lockscreen Widgets brings back the functionality of yore, with some extra features. Note that Lockscreen Widgets is not designed to function on the Always-On Display.

Lockscreen Widgets appears as a paged "frame" on top of your lock screen.
Add a widget by tapping the plus button in the frame. This plus button will always be the last page.
Each widget you add gets its own page, or you can have multiple widgets per page.
You can press, hold, and drag widgets to reorder them.
You can press and hold widgets to remove them or edit their size.
Tap the frame with two fingers to enter the editing mode where you can resize and move the frame.
Tap the frame with three fingers to temporarily hide it. It will show up again once the display turns off and back on.
Any home screen widget can be added as a lock screen widget.

Lockscreen Widgets also includes an optional Widget Drawer!

Widget Drawer has a handle you can swipe to bring it up from anywhere, or you can use the Tasker integration or shortcut to open it however you want. The drawer is a vertically scrolling list of widgets that can be resized and moved the same way as in the Lockscreen Widgets frame.

And this is all without ADB or root! All the basic privileges can be granted without even thinking about using a computer. Unfortunately, with Android 13 and later, you may need to use ADB or Shizuku to enable Masked Mode.

On the topic of privileges, these are the more sensitive permissions that Lockscreen Widgets needs to function:

Accessibility. In order to display on the lock screen, Lockscreen Widgets’ Accessibility Service must be enabled. You will be prompted to enable it if needed in the initial setup, and any time you open the app.
Notification Listener. This permission is only required if you want the widget frame to hide when notifications are displayed. You will be prompted if it’s needed.
Dismiss Keyguard. In order to improve the user experience, Lockscreen Widgets will dismiss the lock screen (or show the security input view) when it detects an Activity being launched from a widget, or when you press the "Add Widget" button. This will not compromise your device’s security in any way.

Lockscreen Widgets only works on Android Lollipop 5.1 and later because the necessary system features for displaying on the lock screen didn’t exist in Lollipop 5.0. Sorry, 5.0 users.

Network Survey

The Network Survey app enables logging cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and/or GNSS information to a log file (GeoPackage or CSV format). For cellular records it supports logging GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE, and NR records.

You might receive an alert from anti-malware software indicating that Network Survey sends SMS messages in private manner to deceive users. This is NOT the case. SMS permission is necessary for some of the logging that is done. Just to be clear though, Network Survey does not send any text messages, nor does it install anything. In fact, you can deny all the SMS permissions if you are not using the CDR (call detail record) logging feature. The SMS permissions are only requested the first time you turn on CDR logging. This app has the ability to access your device's location in the background. The background location permission is needed to start Network Survey at boot. You can deny this permission if you don't want to start Network Survey at phone boot. More information can be found in the App's privacy policy located at https://github.com/christianrowlands/android-network-survey/blob/master/privacy_policy.md

The cellular logging feature logs several details about the current serving cell, and then some basic information about the neighbor cells. This app won't log all 5 cellular protocols at once. Instead, it will only log information about the protocols that are current connected. If logging for one specific protocol is desired, then the phone must be locked to that protocol (try using *#*#4636#*#* from the dial pad).

The cellular survey records can be streamed to either a gRPC server or a MQTT broker. This is not on by default and a gRPC server or MQTT Broker needs to be setup for this feature to work.

A bonus feature of this app is its ability to create a Call Detail Record (CDR) file. If enabled, CDR events are logged to a CSV file.

The app also has a calculator that converts an LTE Cell ID to the corresponding eNodeB ID and Sector ID, and a calculator that converts an LTE PCI to the corresponding Primary Sync Sequence (PSS) and Secondary Sync Sequence (SSS).

This app has one sole purpose: Look for smart glasses nearby and warn you.

This app notifies you when smart glasses are nearby. It uses company identificators in the Bluetooth LE data sent out by these. Therefore, there likely are false positives (e.g. from VR headsets). Hence, please proceed with caution when approaching a person nearby wearing glasses. They might just be regular glasses, despite this app’s warning.

The app’s author takes no liability whatsoever for this app nor it’s functionality. Use at your own risk. By technical design, detecting Bluetooth LE devices might sometimes just not work as expected.
False positives are likely. This means, the app Nearby Glasses may notify you of smart glasses nearby when there might be in fact a VR headset of the same manufacturer or another product of that company’s breed. It may also miss smart glasses nearby.

However, this app is free and open source, you may review the code, change it and reuse it (under the AGPL3 license).

Nearby Glasses does not store any details about you or collects any information about you or your phone. There are no telemetry, no ads, and no other nuisance.

If you choose to store (export) the logfile, that is completely up to you and your liability where this data go to. The logs are recorded only locally and not automatically shared with anyone. They do contain little sensitive data; in fact, only the manufacturer ID codes of BLE devices encountered.

Use with extreme caution! As stated before: There is no guarantee that detected smart glasses are really nearby. It might be another device looking technically (on the BLE adv level) similar to smart glasses.

Please do not act rashly. Think before you act upon any messages (not only from this app).

Why?

Because I consider smart glasses an intolerable intrusion, consent neglecting, horrible piece of tech that is already used for making various and tons of equally truely disgusting 'content'.
Some smart glasses feature small LED signifying a recording is going on. But this is easily disabled, whilst manufacturers claim to prevent that and take no responsibility at all (tech tends to do that for decades now).
Smart glasses have been used for instant facial recognition before and reportedly will be out of the box. This puts a lot of people in danger.

How?

It's a simple rather heuristic approach. Our approach comes from the Bluetooth SIG assigned numbers repo. Following this, the manufacturer company's name shows up as number codes in the packet advertising header (ADV) of BLE beacons. They are immutable and mandatory. Of course, Meta and other manufacturers also have other products that come with Bluetooth and therefore their ID, e.g. VR Headsets. Therefore, using these company ID codes for the app's scanning process is prone to false positives. But if you can't see someone wearing an Occulus Rift around you and there are no buildings where they could hide, chances are good that it's smart glasses instead.

According to the Bluetooth SIG assigned numbers repo, we may use these company IDs:

0x01AB for Meta Platforms, Inc. (formerly Facebook)
0x058E for Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC
0x0D53 for Luxottica Group S.p.A (manufactures the Meta Ray-Bans)
0x03C2 for Snapchat, Inc., that makes SNAP Spectacles

HOW TO USE

Open the app and tap "Create a new widget" directly from the home screen. Add your photos, choose the appearance and behaviors and tap "Add to home screen". That's it!

You can also long press on your home screen, open the widget menu and search for "Material Photo Widget", then configure your new widget the same way.

MY WIDGET DOES NOT APPEAR

The app consumes very little power and runs on the background when needed (to switch photos, for example). Because it's rarely being actively used, it can be stopped by Android as the system prioritizes the most used apps when trying to optimize the battery duration.

If you are facing this problem, remove any battery or memory restrictions from the app. You can also search for your device brand on https://dontkillmyapp.com and follow their instructions to improve the behavior of apps that mostly run on the background.

Some phones can prevent apps from starting themselves after restarting the device, making the widget can appear broken. If that's happening, you must grant permission for the app to "auto start" through your settings or security app.

PERMISSIONS

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — This permission is needed to restore widgets after a device restart. Some device manufacturers prevent this from happening, and you must manually allow it through the "auto-start" setting on your phone.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM (optional) — This is an optional permission that is needed if you would like to use shorter intervals to switch photos, ensuring that they follow the selected schedule exactly.
WAKE_LOCK & FOREGROUND_SERVICE — These permissions are used by Work Manager; a standard Android library to manage background work, in this case, used to ensure that the widget keeps functioning as expected.

The app does not require any storage permissions. Photos and directories are selected using the native pickers and stored within the app to keep data private and secure. There's no tracking or network communication.

Uncomplicated simple: stream your video files (mp4, mkv, avi, mov, wmv, or webm) stored on your Android phone to another phone, tablet, computer or TV set running a compatible video player, like VLC.

How does it work?

Make sure you are connected to WiFi, select a folder containing your video files and press "Start UPnP Kino". Then open your UPnP compatible video player, like VLC, and navigate to "Browse" on another WiFi connected phone or tablet, or "Universal Plug'n'Play" on a desktop and enjoy your videos. The app has been extensively tested with VLC but other UPnP players should work just fine.

Why not just use PlainUPnP (com.m3sv.plainupnp)?

Well, first of all, it seems that the app has been removed from F-Droid. And, anyway, the app had a bug which made it impossible to stream video files over 2,147,483,647 bytes. Which is just over 2GB. Nowadays, most H264 encoded video files are above 2GB. "UPnP Kino" solves that problem in a fit-for-purpose way.

"Note:" Card price look-ups fail in the F-Droid APK due to a missing API key. IzzyOnDroid hosts an APK with the API key. This APK comes from the project’s GitHub releases page and is the same APK as on Google Play.

Switching between APKs from different repositories requires you to uninstall MTG Familiar first because the APKs use different digital signatures. To preserve your data, export it with the "Save Data to SD" button at the bottom of the menu before uninstalling and import it with the "Load Data from SD" after installing.

Security First

I know that scripts often handle sensitive information—whether it's API keys in environment variables or private logic. * Encrypted Storage: All script data and configurations are stored in an encrypted database using SQLCipher.

Small onboarding is present for easier setup. Note on Permissions: During setup, you will be asked to grant the com.termux.permission.RUN_COMMAND permission. While the system warning may look intimidating, this is the standard and necessary way for third-party apps to securely send commands to Termux.

Compatibility

Minimum SDK: 24 (Android 7.0)
Target SDK: 36 (Android 16)
Xiaomi / MIUI / HyperOS: Specific fixes are included to handle the unique way these systems manage shortcut permissions.
Other OEMs: If shortcuts do not appear, please manually check your "Background Start" or "Shortcut" permissions in your system settings, NOTE that some flavour might reject the permission later and not send exception to the app, sadly can't do much here.

Current Status

This project is currently in early development.

Testing: Tested various extensions, and all works as expected
Documentation: Detailed code description is currently under construction.
Translation: En and Ru are made by me, everything else is AI. You can always switch in settings or during onboarding
Stability: While functional, you may encounter edge cases. I recommend keeping backups of vital scripts using the built-in export feature. Also, BasicTextField starts lagging while typing at around 177K characters on Snapdragon 7s gen2, Snapdragon 8 gen3 does not have the same expirence. I have tested and linenumbergutter has no effect on perfomance, so it might be the internal implementation. I don't want to move to other ways of displaying stuff, because I will loose stylo support on my tablet

RepoStore is a native Android app that turns GitHub releases into a clean, Play Store-style experience.

Key Features:

• Smart Discovery - Home sections for Trending, Recently Updated, and Featured projects. Only repos with valid APK assets are shown.
• Latest-Release Installs - Fetches the latest release for each repo and shows only assets from the newest release with a single Install action.
• Rich Details Screen - View app name, version, stars, forks, language stats, rendered README content, release notes with markdown formatting, and screenshot gallery.
• Install & Update Tracking - Tracks installations and shows when updates are available. Shows "Open" for installed apps.
• Material You Design - Material 3 design with dynamic theming support and dark mode.
• GitHub Integration - Optional GitHub sign-in to increase API rate limit from 60 to 5,000 requests/hour.

How it works:

RepoStore uses GitHub's public API to search for Android repositories. It filters to show only those that have real, downloadable APK files in their releases. When you find an app you like, tap Install to download and install it directly.

Privacy & Security:

• Downloads come directly from GitHub releases
• HTTPS-only connections
